Smithsonian Flag Project

Smithsonian Institute - National Museum of American History

In November 2008, Wasatch Laser Processing was a proud participant in the fabrication of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History's, 'Abstract Flag'.  This flag is made of fifteen ribbons, it echoes the original Star-Spangled Banner, and will unmistakably mark the treasured flag's new home.

These ribbons are comprised of 960 "pixels" of mirrored poly carbonate, which vary in reflectivity by stripe.  These "ribbons" are connected (on the backside)  by over 1,000 laser cut stainless steel brackets, polished to a #8 mirrored finish.  Wasatch Laser Processing fabricated these brackets.
